Kiah Shine – St John’s Catholic High School

Hi my name is Kiah Shine and my family connection are from Wreck Bay. I attend St John’s Catholic High School in Year 11.

I heard about the Storylines SBAT program through the Indigenous unit called Guru at my school. The program means to me a great opportunity to stay at school and connect with other people because I was going to leave. I am able to go and work with other kids while doing a Certificate 2 in Sports Study with AFL and Sport and Recreation. The best thing I learnt while doing the Storylines SBAT was First Aid and I have become more confident while working with other kids. I think this program was a good fit for me and it was amazing. I started my SBAT in July 2021. It sounded amazing although I didn’t know much about it.

I have a lot of support from my parents and school while I complete the Storylines SBAT and it has given me a pathway for my future.
